Thanks for checking out my stop on the Sexy Stocking Stuffers blog hop! Today I’m giving away an audiobook copy of my Fantasy/Historical Romance The Third Son. Be sure to enter to win and check out the prizes from the other participating authors! I’m also sharing a steamy excerpt from my latest holiday romance, The New Year’s Masquerade.

The New Years MasqueradeOrlando Sanchez is a player. “No strings attached” is the motto of his life, and even when his best friend and wingman gets married, he doesn’t intend for that to change. Women are trouble and the only one he cares to spend time with is Sasha, who’s quickly become his friend and confidant. But a rash decision and a night of mindless passion makes their relationship complicated, causing Orlando to face his fears of commitment head on and to consider all he’s been missing out on in life.

Sasha is in love with Orlando and has been since they met. She knows she’s not his type. The bad boy would surely break her heart, yet she can’t help but want more than friendship. After Orlando calls their night together a mistake, Sasha is determined to show him that it wasn’t. At a New Year’s Masquerade party, Sasha throws her insecurities and inhibitions aside in one last attempt to show Orlando that they belong together. When the clock strikes midnight, Orlando will face a decision. Will his kiss ring in the New Year with the promise of a new future? Or will Orlando run, using his bachelor lifestyle and player ways as a shield against everything he thought he never wanted?

Excerpt:

“Hi,” she said, her voice a velvety purr as she turned to face him. Orlando’s chest squeezed painfully as he stared down at her—even in her heels she barely came up to his chest. The urge to grab her and wrap her legs around his waist was so strong he almost pinched himself to snap out of it.

“You’re here,” he said, realizing for the first time that he was relieved.

She nodded. “I came for you.”

Orlando shook his head. “You shouldn’t have.”

Sasha shrugged. “Maybe. But I’m here anyway.”

She turned and reached for a glass on the bar, something clear and sparkling. She sipped at it as he came even closer, until her back was pressed up against his front. He groaned low in his throat at the contact. Orlando knew he had already lost the battle between his logical mind and his instinctive urges. He couldn’t remember any of the reasons he and Sasha should not be together when she was this close to him, smelling so good and wearing a dress made of sin. His hand brushed her hip.

“Do you have any idea what that dress is doing to me?” he asked, pressing his lips to her shoulder. He didn’t give a damn who was watching. No one knew who was who in this crowd anyway. Even if they did, no one ever talked about what went on at the masquerade. It was practically an unwritten rule of attending. “You’re playing with fire, Sasha. You know what happens when you play with fire, don’t you? You get burned.”

“You promise?” she purred, turning so that he could see her profile.

Orlando’s blood surged straight to his cock and he pressed it against her beautiful backside. His lips found her ear and he clutched the lobe between his teeth. She whimpered. “One more time?” he pleaded. He was wrong to ask it of her, and knew she should say no to him. He would have no right to be angry with her if she did, but Orlando knew he’d regret it for the rest of his life if he didn’t. No matter how wrong it was to want her so badly when he knew he shouldn’t, Orlando just couldn’t walk away and leave things between them the way he had earlier in the week. “I don’t want our last memory of each other to be a bad one. Please.” He punctuated his request with a nibble to her neck. She shuddered.

“I have a few conditions first.”

Orlando’s eyebrows shot up as his hands skimmed her hips, coming dangerously close to the hem of her dress. “I’m intrigued.”

She swayed against him, her hips creating a delicious friction against his crotch. Orlando’s fingers curled around her hem, thumbs circling on her thighs, inching the fabric up slightly. Her voice was heavy and thick was desire but steady when she spoke, turning to whisper in his ear. “If you only want this one last night with me, I’ll give it to you. On the condition that it’s over at midnight.” Orlando glanced at his watch; it was nine-thirty. Considering all the things he wanted to do to her, they didn’t have much time. “But,” she added. Orlando didn’t know why, but his heart skipped a beat. “By midnight, if you decide you want more, then I want you to kiss me at midnight. But only if you’re ready to start a life with me, Orlando. I don’t want to start the new year with you if you if I can’t finish it.”

Orlando contemplated this for a moment. Entering this agreement with her could be dangerous. On one hand, one night stands were pretty much his specialty. Yet, Sasha was the only woman he’d ever wanted more from. Still, Orlando had pretty much made up his mind where a relationship with Sasha was concerned and felt confident he could stick to the first part of the agreement. If he let this last opportunity to be with her slip away, Orlando would always remember that they’d parted on bad terms and he didn’t want that.

“Deal,” he said. “Should I book a room?”

She turned in his arms and smiled up at him. “Already taken care of. Follow me.”

Orlando obliged her, unable to stop watching the sway of her hips as she led him around the perimeter of the hotel ballroom. Her dress and heels glittered in the light from the crystal chandeliers above. The pulsing rhythm of the music coming from the Latin Jazz band on the platform in the corner seemed to fill his veins, causing a pulsating sensation to radiate out to his fingertips and toes. When they reached the hallway leading to the elevators, Orlando grabbed her hand and pulled, his long legs eating up the carpet beneath his feet.

She laughed as she trotted to keep up with him. “Hey, what’s the rush?”

“Two and a half hours,” he grumbled as he pulled her along. “It’s not nearly enough time for me to do all the things I want to do to you.”

“You could have more than that, you know.”

He paused in front of the elevators and pressed the ‘up’ button. Turning toward her, he reached out to caress her cheek. “Sasha, I wish I could give you more, but I can’t. I can promise to make this a night to remember, so when we part ways our last memories will be good ones.”

As the elevator doors opened, Sasha sashayed through them. She leaned against the wall and smirked. “I have every intention of spending the next two and a half hours changing your mind.”
