Welcome to day 2 of the Valentine’s Day Countdown/Bash! Yesterday I kicked things off by sharing one of my favorite romantic movie movies of all time: A Kiss On A Boat. While yesterday’s movie moment was a tear-jerker, this week’s movie moment is one that induces laughter and smiles every time I watch it. Read on for today’s movie moment and another entry opportunity for the Valentine’s Day grand prizes (pictured below). If you missed yesterday’s post and/or forgot what we’re playing for, you can always go back to yesterdays post here to read up on the prizes and first entry method: http://www.elisemarion.com/2013/02/01/valentines-day-countdownbash-day-1-a-kiss-on-a-boat-contest/

The Rafflecopter widget below is the same one I used yesterday and is the same one I’ll be using for every day of the contest, so if the first task is marked off, you’ve already done it!
Now for our second movie moment of the week. The 90s are what I lovingly refer to as the ‘Golden Age’ of the Romantic Comedy, when girls like Drew Barrymore, Sandra Bullock, Renee Zellweger, and Julia Stiles ruled the silver screen with their ‘I’m pretty but quirky’ aesthetics and a true flair for the kind of comedy that women can get into. And let’s not forget the hunky guys that fall in love with them. Because who can resist a girl who’s hot but doesn’t know it, has a sense of humor, and makes a fool of herself in front of said guy in order to win his heart? It’s a win-win situation.
One of my favorite Rom-Coms is Ten Things I Hate About You starring the late, great Heath Ledger. Even then, it was plain to see that the boy with the long hair playing a high school rebel would someday blossom into an incredible actor. His portrayal of the Joker years later would prove us all right.
His most charismatic (I believe) moments of the movie, is when he steps into the ‘making a fool of myself for love’ shoes and takes a stroll up and down stadium bleachers while belting out “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” to the surly and jaded Julia Stiles. Who can resist such a gesture? Who says no to a guy who gets an entire marching band to back him up while he struts back and forth while singing over a loudspeaker in front of the entire girls soccer team? For a high school guy, it’s a pretty inventive and romantic thing to do, and while we all know no guy in high school is ever this thoughtful (at least they weren’t when I was in school), the teenage girl in all of us would like to think that there was at least one like Heath. And at the end of the song when he flashes that 1000 megawatt smile … well, let’s just call that the icing on the cake.
For today’s entry, comment below with the most embarrassing and/or entertaining thing you’ve done for love, or had someone do for you. The greatest grand gesture. Maybe it could make the video reels of America’s Funniest Home Videos, but it brought you and your significant other closer together. Anything goes. Be sure to click the green “Done” button on the Rafflecopter to have your entry counted!
Come back tomorrow for more Valentine’s Day fun and be sure to join the Facebook event page to keep up with each days’ posts, as well as a few side giveaways!

Well my boyfriend and I have 6 kids between us, ages 16, 15, 15, 10, 8, and 6. Three our mine, One is his and I have Two stepdaughters from a previous marriage
Well with that many kids it’s really hard to find “alone” time for us. So I got the bright idea one day that I would send the kids on a “wild goose chase” so we could have some “Mommy and Daddy” time hehe Everything was great, or at least I THOUGHT it was!!! haha Afterward, I was walking down the hallway and heard the 3 teenage girls giggling. I walk into the living room and they all 3 started giving me crap. I turned BLOOD RED, and just looked at em and said “Hey I’m not dead yet!! How you do think y’all got here!!! LOL They STILL dont let me live this one down.
Gotta love our munchkins <3
One of my favorite romantic movie moments is towards the end of Pride and Prejudice (2005) when Darcy is professing his love to Lizzy and she finally returns it.
In high school I dated a guy my junior year that got some of his friends to help him serenade me one night at summer camp. They didn’t have the best voices but it was so damn adorable my teenage heart about burst.
How cute! I guess high school guys can be romantic!
When we were still dating my husband hounded one of his friends who won a large stuffed horse for his little cousin. My husband ended up paying him $50 for a stuffed animal probably only worth $10
when I was in highschool – I was very active showing horses – and was traveling constantly to do it. There weren’t many “straight” boys on the circuit who rode – and the guy that I was dating was one of a very few who was. We were in Oklahoma city – and he wasn’t coming(or so I thought) to the show – so I wasn’t prepared to see him in the stands – wearing a t-shirt and carrying a sign that had my name on it – the t-shirt was my favorite kick-around shirt with a care bear on it – True Heart – and the sign said something about the true heart bear brought him out to cheer me on.
He ended up marrying one of my good friends from the show circuit !
At 16 – it was utterly embarrassing and uber sweet – but everyone at the show saw the sign since he was convincing people to cheer for me.
Yeah- we did date for about 3 more years though
How sweet! You guys make me so jealous! All the guys I knew in high school were jerks!
I once drove my Ford Pinto (which was a very small car) during a snow storm to a secret rendezvous only to get my car stuck in a huge drift. He had to push my car out of the drift to get me back onto a road. We spent our whole time together digging out my little car and laughing our heads off. Many years later when we saw each other again, both married to other people, we still couldn’t stop laughing about that encounter.
That’s an adorable story!
I love that scene in 10 Things I Hate About You!
Well…I’d have to say learning German to impress the foreign exchange student. It didn’t quite work out, but hey I picked up another language and we became good friends.
Learning another language is a skill I wish I’d invested time in. Even if you did it for romantic reasons, it was still a good move on your part!
Favorite movie moment… Ok-, I got it! “You had me at hello…”
Yup- very sweet <3
This most embarrassing moment I can think of (well somewhat) is the night me and my husband met. I was out with a friend of mine and he comes up to our table (my friend and I were tying cherry stems with out tongues) and starts a conversation about what we were doing and the amount of skill and talent it takes to complete such a task. Anyway, after a couple of hours of chatting he had to leave with his friend (his friend was his ride). He comes back about 20 minutes later and asks me if I happened to find any keys around and makes a big thing of asking people and looking around for them. It winds up, he used his "lost keys" as a reason to come back and see me again. I was embarrassed because it made me blush! He even told the entire place to stop looking for his keys because he never lost them (caused me to blush even more!) *sigh- going on 18 years together. Very worth that little bit of embarrassment for me <3
How sweet! Men can do the cutest things sometimes. That was a smooth move and looks like it was worth it. 18 years? Wow!
I drove 96mph to meet a man and got a speeding ticket.
Forgot to mention it was from Corona to Sacramento which was 8 hours.
I hope the man was worth that ticket!
WOW! Nothing too crazy for us. With 4 kids…we have to find time just to spend together and that in itself is enough for me.:)
Girl, I am the same way! I am about to have baby 3, and just a few minutes of peace and quiet together or a night out are enough for me these days!
Oh and my fav classic movie….can I say Gone with the wind?? I love that movie.:)
Of course you can say Gone With The Wind!!!! One of the best movies EVER!
So I met my husband on Facebook – cheesy I know! He is from Manchester, England. And while it’s not really embarrassing to me, when I told two of my friends that I was flying there to meet him. They weren’t worried about me flying to another country to meet a “strange man,” but they did think it was quite hilarious and said, “That’s one long-distance booty call!”
